How it works

Simple for parents.
Transformative for your child.

Here’s exactly what happens when you enroll — step by step, skill by skill.

The model

You learn it. Your child lives it.

TheReadyChild is a parent education course — not a children’s program. You watch the short video modules, learn the frameworks, and then introduce simple guided practices into your child’s existing routine.

This design is intentional. Children don’t build Executive Functioning skills by watching a lecture. They build them through repeated, guided practice — led by a parent who knows what to introduce, when to introduce it, and how to make it stick.

You (the parent)
  • Watch 2–3 short module videos per week (8–12 min each)
  • Learn the EF skill and why it matters at this age
  • Get the exact language and activities to use with your child
  • Guide the practice — without needing to be an expert
Your child
  • Does a short guided practice each day (5–10 min)
  • Builds one EF skill at a time, in a specific sequence
  • Gets better — without knowing they’re in a “course”
  • Starts to see themselves differently — as capable
Where this takes your child

By the end of the course, your child will be:

Skill 1

Focused

They can direct their attention where it needs to go — and bring it back when it drifts.

Skill 2

Organized

Their materials, their time, and their thinking are in order — without constant reminders.

Skill 3

Confident

They believe they can figure things out — even when it’s hard.

Skill 4

Self-driven

They start, persist, and finish — because the internal skills are there.

The curriculum

Eight skills. Eight modules. One ready child.

Each module targets one core Executive Functioning skill — introduced in a specific sequence designed so each skill builds on the last.

1

The Foundation

Your child discovers the one skill that makes every other skill possible.

2

The Starter

Your child builds the ability to begin, even when a task feels overwhelming.

3

The Focuser

Your child learns to direct and hold attention on what matters most.

4

The Organizer

Your child develops simple systems that keep their world in order.

5

The Planner

Your child learns to break big goals into steps they can actually take.

6

The Adapter

Your child builds resilience when plans change and things get hard.

7

The Regulator

Your child learns to stay calm under pressure and recover faster.

8

The Finisher

Your child builds the follow-through to complete what they start.

Your time investment

Less than you think.
More impactful than anything else you’ll try.

For you (the parent)
15–20 min / week

One module video. Watch it when it suits you — morning coffee, lunch break, after the kids are in bed. Then you’re ready for the week.

For your child
5–10 min / day

One short guided practice, built into a routine that already exists. After school, at dinner, before bed — whatever fits your family.

No tutors. No apps. No equipment. No extra sessions.

A week in the life

Here’s what this looks like in practice

Monday

Watch this week’s module video

15–20 minutes. Learn the EF skill, understand why it matters, and read the activity guide so you know exactly what to do with your child this week.

Tue – Fri

Guide your child through one short daily practice

5–10 minutes, built into your existing routine. You use the language and activities from the workbook. Your child practices the skill — without it feeling like schoolwork.

Weekend

Notice and reflect

Optional but powerful. What shifted this week? What does your child need more of? One observation, noted down, sets you up for the next module.

Your job in this

You’re not a tutor. You’re a guide.

Parents often worry they need to become experts in child psychology to make this work. You don’t. TheReadyChild doesn’t ask you to run therapy sessions, quiz your child on concepts, or enforce rigid schedules.

Your job is simpler — and more powerful:

  • Watch the module video each week
  • Use the language and conversation guides we give you
  • Create small moments of practice in your child’s existing day
  • Notice what’s changing — and reflect it back to your child

The framework does the heavy lifting. You do the connecting. That’s all it takes.

The signals that tell you it’s working

What changes — and when

Weeks 1–2

Your child becomes more aware of how they work. They can name what makes things hard for them — and that awareness alone starts to shift things.

Weeks 3–4

The first small shifts appear. Starting tasks a little sooner. Needing one fewer reminder. Recovering faster when something goes wrong.

Weeks 5–6

New habits are forming. Your child starts using the language and tools independently — not because you told them to, but because it’s working for them.

Weeks 7–8

The identity is shifting. Your child is beginning to see themselves differently — as someone who is focused, organized, and capable of figuring things out.

Questions about the course

Good questions. Straight answers.

Does my child watch the videos?

No. The videos are for you, the parent. Your child learns through the daily guided practices you introduce — using the scripts and activities in the companion workbook. They never need to sit through a lecture.

What if my child resists?

This is common, and we address it directly in Module 1. The course includes a step-by-step child buy-in conversation — a simple exchange you have with your child before the course begins that gets them curious and willing before you ask them to do anything.

Do I need any special materials?

No. Everything your child needs is in the companion workbook — available in print or digital format. No apps, no subscriptions, no equipment to buy.

What if I fall behind or miss a week?

You have 12 months of access to all course materials from the date of purchase. Go at your own pace, pause when life gets busy, and pick up exactly where you left off. Most families complete the course well within that window — but 12 months gives you plenty of breathing room.
